Yamandu Roos expo: Uruguayes Campeones in Moose Gallery, Rotterdam

Friday the 24th of march Moose Gallery will open the exhibition "Uruguayos Campeones (de America y el mundo)" of Amsterdam based photographer Yamandu Roos. The exhibition gives an in-depth look into the culture of Uruguayan futbol. Yamandu has been a photographer since 1991. He was born in Amsterdam but has always lived between Uruguay and the Netherlands. "For years my lengthy stays in Uruguay have inspired and allowed me to cultivate a deep-rooted connection with the Uruguayan culture, the land, and most notably its people".After Yamandu graduated from Royal Art School the Hague in 2003 he dedicated himself to many extended periods of living in Uruguay, compiling works all of which focus on the subject matter of Uruguayan futbol. In this time he formed relationships with his subjects and at times became fully immersed in an athletic culture that serves as a "platform of dreams" to the parents and children of this country. "Uruguayos Campeones (de America y el mundo)" is an extensive project with many layers and subjects emphasizing the social, cultural and economic 'status quo' of a culture so passionate about futbol. The exhibition of Yamandu Roos is the first official exhibition of the MOOSE shop which opened at the 3rd of March in Rotterdam. The project is an association with A Blue Chicken, which is a website specializing in high quality artists prints of national and international talent.
